Hi there! My name is Angie and I have been a Toastmaster since October 2012. It has been a transformative experience! The first time I attempted to visit a Toastmasters meeting, I took a peek inside, saw people, and bolted. Fast-forward a few years, and I have developed enough confidence to take on the role of Area Director for Area 37.
The benefits of Toastmasters are apparent in so many of us – it continues to be amazing and exciting and inspiring to witness members transform speech by speech as they increase eye contact, decrease fidgeting, and gradually part ways with their favourite filler words. I wholeheartedly believe in the Toastmasters program, because it simply works.
I have visited many clubs in the past few years out of sheer curiosity, and met many wonderfully committed and goal-oriented people. Each club has its unique culture, and it is my goal to preserve that unique identity while assisting clubs to uphold standards and maintain quality membership experiences. I highly encourage members to visit other clubs in the area, be inspired, and take fresh ideas back to their own clubs. It is my hope that clubs in the area can form strong ties and never feel isolated from their area and division.
